LLANGADOG   20   LLANDYBIE   19

Llandybie travelled to Llangadog minus a couple of key players for this midweek match. With the hosts on the attack after ten minutes from a kick ahead, a cruel bounce fooled full back Chris Powell and was gathered by the home player to score. A penalty put Llangadog further in front. This was a match where the referee’s whistle dictated matters.                     Llandybie countered getting to the hosts ten yard line and from a ruck Nathaniel Butler although faced with three defenders forced his way over for a good try. Another penalty put the hosts into a half time  11 – 5 lead.                                                                                                       From an early penalty Lee Davies kicked for touch. James Tommason secured the throw and fly half Davies found Butler at speed with a short pass to score under the posts, with Davies adding the extras to lead 12 -11. Another penalty put the hosts back in the lead whilst Llandybie missed a penalty. From a sound Llandybie scrum a mismove in midfield put Butler through to score his third try converted by Davies to lead 19 -14.                                                       The visitors should have pegged the hosts back by kicking deep instead of trying to run out od defence. Llangadog converted a further two penalties to sneak back into the lead and Llandybie missed two penalties and a late drop at goal which shaved the upright to lose by the odd point.  Scoring three tries to one but penalties were very costly and a win went begging.
