  LLANDYBIE   34     CEFNEITHIN    16

Cefneithin were the visitors to King George Fields with Llandybie hoping to reverse their one point loss earlier in the season at Cefneithin. With two recent wins v Llandeilo and Betws the hosts were building confidence.

Llandybie gained an early penalty from the kick off with Cefn holding on in the tackle and dependable Ben Featherstone took the points. Richard Watts replied for Cefn soon after for offside. After two poor early lineouts, Rhys Cann found James Tommason ,with quick ball to Ioan Rees making good ground into the Cefn twenty two. Quick ruck ball with Rhys Evans and Tom Griffith putting centre Alex Wigley over for a try. Nathaniel Butler made two big hits in midfield, with Dai Lloyd and Ethan Walters we’re solid in the front row but Cefn were putting the ball wide at every opportunity but ‘evergreen’ Mike Tench led the hosts tackling.  Tommason again took Cann’s throw with scrum half Kieran Williams  feeding Tom Griffith at ten. He disguised a lovely chip over the defence for Rhys Evan to gather and with Rees in support swerved outside to outpace the defence to score a super try converted by Featherstone to lead 15 – 3.

Mike Tench was unfortunate to see yellow after being pushed into the Cefn side of the ruck when trying to get into the defensive line, and Cefn  made the most of the extra man using their forwards to drive over  for a try by Jack Rogers. Cefn kicked a penalty from Watts to move to within four points.

A Llandybie attack broke down but a great tackle by Wigley prevented a breakaway score. Wigley then found a forty yard kick to touch from a penalty and having won the  lineout, Rhys Cann carried strongly riding two high tackles. From the penalty the hosts took the scrum with Butler breaking from the base of the scrum to put Featherstone over for a try with the conversion just wide. Half time Llandybie led 20 -11.

Llandybie brought on fresh legs with Steff Thomas and Jordan Tommason with Thomas bowling an opponent over with his first charge.Early pressure with Llandybie going wide, full back Wayne Williams into the line to send  winger Keri Davies over in the corner converted by Featherstone from the touchline.

Good lineout ball by Tommason to Kieran Williams to Griffith taking a heavy late tackle to Rhys Evans cutting through on a fabulous run to put Keri Davies in for his second try converted by Featherstone. The Cefn number eight saw yellow for the late tackle. Great advantage from the referee.

Cefn kept coming with good runs from Evans and Williams to score a try wide out by Alun Davies. Good play cleaning up in the loose from Cann, Rees , Dan Brooks and Butler saw Llandybie gain their first bonus point win of the season.

This was Ben Featherstone,s last game this season with the boys giving him a good send off win. The side will particularly miss his kicking ability. Bon voyage Ben.
