Penybanc 2/2/2019

 LLANDYBIE     25         PENYBANC    5

Llandybie welcomed  a strong Penybanc side for this 3 West B fixture.

With a number of permit players available to them Penybanc were to prove stern opposition.  The early exchanges were even with Penybanc throwing the ball wide. Llandybie  were strong in the scrum and number eight Lyndon Davies picked up fifteen yards out and used his power to score a try after ten minutes. Ben Featherstone converted.  Penybanccame on strong and got over the whitewash but good defence held the ball up. Another drive from Banc and Gethin Harries scored wide out and Banc missed a penalty. Dan Ward was binned for handling in a ruck so Mike Tench moved to scrum half with Richard Davies marshalling his troops. There was some good rugby being played by both sides. Banc conceded a penalty for offside and Featherstone kicked the points to lead 10 – 5 at half time.

In the second period centre  Rob Smith came on the charge only to be flattened by Tracy Lewis. The centres were particularly engrossing with big tackles going in from both sides with Rob Smith taking down Lewis. Nathaniel Butler and Lyndon Davies were very good going forward for the hosts and equally in defence along with Mike Tench and Dylan Parry.   Banc gave away another penalty for a tip tackle on Josh Lewis , whose father played for the opposition, and Featherstone converted to move Llandybie further ahead.

Llandybie won a ruck and moved the ball wide with Wayne Williams from full back to Butler and Davies to prop Ethan Walters to dive in the corner. From another good drive the ball was smuggled to Walters to force his way over for his second try of the game. Llandybie ran out winners by 25  - 5. With so many players injured or unavailable their resources have been stretched over the last three matches, so the international break will be welcome.
