                            LLANDYBIE  30    CEFNEITHIN   22

Llandybie were hosts to a strong Cefneithin team and were looking for their first win of the season. Good early pressure from Llandybie yielded a penalty. Lee Davies put the ball to touch, with Dan Brooks finding Mike Tench. The pack set up a driving maul and flanker Nathaniel Butler broke from the rear to dive over in the corner.                                                           Cefn fired back but Llandybie’s defence held firm. Continued pressure from Cefn and Dan Jones dived over converted by Richard Watts. A good break in the centre for Cefnlooked a try all the way but a great tackle by winger Rhydian Jones saved the day with EirianWilliams quick to the breakdown and the visitors penalised for holding on. Llandybie went on the attack throwing the ball wide and stretching Cefn. Good interplay by the forwards and Lyndon Davies was unstoppable from fifteen yards to score under the posts converted by Lee Davies to lead 12 – 7. With the hosts on the attack a monster kick from full back Watts took Cefn into the hosts twenty two. Cefn stole the line out to set up a drive and scored a good try by Jackson BurnellLlandybie were trying to play expansive rugby and Connor Thomas went on a mazy run almost making the line but the forwards recycled Keenan Jones almost getting over but just held up by the Cefn defence but a short pass to Lyndon Davies took him over again with Lee Davies converting to lead 19 – 14. Ethan Walters came off with a shoulder injury after a good carry replaced by  Tim Williams who made a nuisance of himself in the rucks. A good break in midfield and Cefn found a gap but Mike Tench made a great tackle. The hosts yielded a penalty converted by Watts to reach half time with everything to play for at 19 – 17.

From the restart Lee Davies was yellow carded for a blatant offside , experienced prop Dai Lloyd replaced young Jordan Tommason , but Cefn gave away another penalty and with Davies in the bin centre Matthew Lloyd stepped up to kick the points. Leighton Rees at scrum half just returned from injury kept the Cefn back row honest with his sniping runs and good service. A good scrum from Llandybie and another penalty which Lloyd dropped just short. Dafydd Nicholas replaced winger Ceiran Jones and straight away went on a run with a kick through the defence but he was just beaten to the touchdown. Cefn kicked for position fielded by left winger Rhydian jones who ran it back and from the ruck  Davies who had just returned from the bin put in a great cross kick to find flanker Eirian Williams who broke the tackle to stride in for a try. Unfortunately winger Jones had to go off with a shoulder injury.Llandybie had a penalty for stamping but Davies put it wide.  From twenty two drop out again Lyndon Davies made thirty yards  on a mazy run and with Cefn giving away a penalty for a cynical offside Davies kicked the points to lead  30 – 17. Cefn were still dangerous and scored a late try out wide by Deon Thomas. Cefn number 20 went to the bin for a punch but Llandybie were home and dry for their first win of the season with the added bonus point.  It was a fine game of rugby with both sided totally committed.
